Global warming is also known as climate change. It is caused by the excessive build-up of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane. While having some greenhouse gases accumulated in the atmosphere is important to the survival of life on Earth, an excess amount of greenhouse gases prevents the escape of heat from our atmosphere into outer space. This disrupts the natural order of things and results in the phenomenon known as global warming.

Global warming occurs when the temperature of the earth's oceans and atmosphere increase as a result of equally rising levels of greenhouse gases, particularly Carbon Dioxide (CO2), brought about largely by human activity. This increase in temperature, even by a few degrees, will have permanent and significant consequences for humans and the planet over the next hundreds or even thousands of years.
Data projections made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) show that within
